BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Bozeman's Human Resource Development Council tells NBC Montana the incoming cold weather will create dangerous conditions for the area's homeless. That's why they say they're thrilled they'll be able to open the Warming Center Friday.

The Warming Center is a seasonal shelter where folks can go if they don't have a place to stay during the cold winter nights.

It operates from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily and offers shelter to anyone, from men and women to children and families.

Folks with HRDC say they were able to come up with just over half of the operating costs for the facility -- $56,000 -- just in time.

"This couldn't come at a better time. Our winters are rough here in Montana and this weekend we're going to see single digit temperatures and the result if we weren't able to open our doors is unimaginable. I wouldn't have wanted to have our homeless out there and risk being in below freezing temperatures," says HRDC Housing Director Sara Savage.
