Bullock tasks business leaders with jobs project
Gov. Steve Bullock is asking two business leaders to scour the state for ideas on how to improve the ways government works with the private sector.
Bullock on Monday launched what he is calling the "Main Street Montana Project."
It is being led by Washington Companies CEO Larry Simkins and D.A. Davidson CEO Bill Johnstone.
The businessmen say they want ideas from local leaders to improve everything from workforce development to government regulations.
The will start with local forums, the first in Billings later this month.
Both expect to spend the rest of the year gathering information before giving Bullock recommendations in early 2014.
Johnstone says the process will be led by business and community leaders, not government, and will prepare results based on "facts, not ideology."
