SALT LAKE EXPRESS
BUTTE, Mont. -

An Idaho-based company has announced it will begin offering passenger bus service between Great Falls and Butte, with six stops along the way.

Salt Lake Express of Rexford, Idaho, says the service will begin the route on Thursday, with stops at Ulm Junction, Cascade, Craig Junction, Wolf Creek, Helena, Boulder, Basin and Butte. From Butte, riders will be able to access bus routes to the east and west.

Communities along Interstate 15 between Great Falls and Butte lost bus service in March 2013 when the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration shut down Billings-based Rimrock Stages. Salt Lake Express operated the line last summer, but ridership was not enough to make the route financially viable.

The state Department of Transportation and Salt Lake Express signed a contract last week to resume the service with federal subsidies.
