KALISPELL, Mont. -

There are only five days left to get all of your holiday shopping finished. Retailers are expecting to be very busy during this last weekend before Christmas.

Winter weather hasn't slowed anyone down from making a few last-minute purchases. Many of the retailers we spoke with tell us that this weekend, the weekend before Christmas, is usually the busiest of the year.

"We expect this weekend to be the biggest weekend that we've ever had," said Sportsman & Ski Haus store manager Kyle Joos.

Joos told us that from now until around January 5, he expects the store to be busy all day, but says the store has been preparing for the weekend before Christmas for quite some time.

"Everybody's working, all the cashiers are working, all of the gift wrappers are working, we have everybody on deck to go," Joos said.

Shoppers kept stores and sales lines busy Friday as they looked to purchase last minute gifts.

"The economy seems to be on the upswing in the valley," said Joos.

It's not just Sportsman & Ski Haus that's seeing the big sales. Kalispell Chamber of Commerce President Joe Unterreiner says things are turning around in the Flathead.

"We're seeing a bit of a resurgence of some retail opening and some existing retailers expanding that we see as a real encouraging sign as we go into the holiday season and as we go into 2014," said Unterreiner.

Many of the retailers we spoke with believe that with more stores expected to open next year, 2014's shopping season could be even better than this year.
