Butte man charged with armed robbery
A man accused of robbing a Butte coin store at gunpoint and then fleeing the state has been returned to Montana and charged with felony robbery.
The Montana Standard reports 30-year-old Dale Edward Wallace made an initial appearance in Justice Court Thursday afternoon, where his bail was set at $150,000. He requested a public defender.
Wallace and 30-year-old Sarah Jo Johnson were being sought for the Dec. 30 robbery at Coins N Cards. The owner was tied up and guns and money were taken.
Law enforcement officers tracked Wallace and Johnson through their cellphones and they were located in Lincoln City, Ore., on Jan. 3.
An officer there struck Wallace with his patrol car after Wallace pointed a gun at officers while trying to flee. Johnson committed suicide after an hours-long standoff. Other charges are expected.
