Butte's Irish Festival moved to new location
BUTTE, Mont. -

Butte's An Ri Ra Irish Festival will take place in a new location this year and will be free to the public.

An Ri Ra chairman Frank Walsh told us the festival will be moved to the Original Mine Yard because of anticipated construction on Park Street.

Walsh said they want to set up two stages for performances.

The Irish Festival is also under an operating agreement with Butte-Silver Bow.

Walsh said it will be nice to have the city's help.

"We, in the past, have done most of the work ourselves. We set up, we tear down, and with Butte-Silver Bow coming on board, they're going to be able to help us out with a lot more equipment and manpower to help us put on the festival this year," said Walsh.

Walsh told us he hopes the decision to make the festival free the public will draw a larger crowd.

The festival will be the second weekend in August and Walsh told us to expect a performance from Chicago's Trinity Irish Dancers.
