Butte-Silver Bow police say despite recent spike in crime, city remains safe
BUTTE, Mont. -

Butte-Silver Bow Police tell us that this New Year's was pretty uneventful for officers. Police issued four DUIs, down from previous years.

Sheriff Ed Lester tells us one man was found passed out in the McDonald's drive through, one was caught speeding and another was sleeping in his car, parked on the side of the road while it was running.

"Uou never know what you're going to get on New Year's Eve," said Lester. "We had a fair amount of calls but nothing really serious occurred. So we're thankful for that. It's kind of like rolling dice on New Year's Eve, you never know what you're going to get."

Officers had also planned to start ticketing for open containers after 2 a.m., but only ended up issuing two warnings, saying it didn't appear to be a problem last night.
