Change of plea hearing set in Dixon home invasion
A Missoula man charged in a December home invasion in which a Dixon man was stabbed to death and his wife's throat was cut has apparently reached a plea agreement with Sanders County prosecutors.
Nathan Lee William Calvert's Sept. 15 trial date has been vacated and a change-of-plea hearing is set for Sept. 17.
Public defender Steven Eschenbacher has said two mental health evaluations supported his argument that Calvert suffers from a mental disease or defect and lacked the intent to commit a crime.
Calvert was charged with deliberate homicide in the Dec. 6 death of 61-year-old Doug Morigeau and with attempted deliberate homicide of Cheryl Morigeau, whose throat was cut.
Prosecutors say Calvert told investigators he was high on synthetic marijuana, or "spice" when he broke into the house.
