Chris Pope withdraws from city commission race
A candidate running for Bozeman City Commission withdrew from the race, Saturday, after being diagnosed with cancer.
We told you back in April how real estate agent Chris Pope declared he would run for a seat on the commission.
Now, we've learned Pope has been diagnosed with a treatable form of cancer and will be unable to devote the time and energy necessary to run.
In a press release, Saturday, he says he has a good chance of recovery with an aggressive treatment plan and now needs to devote all of his focus and energy on getting well.
Pope adds he's regretful to withdraw his name and humbled by the support of those who encouraged him to run for office.
Pope will begin a chemotherapy treatments this week at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.
