KALISPELL, Mont. -

Colorado man is hospitalized in critical condition after a hunting accident in northwestern Montana.

The Lincoln County sheriff's office says the 60-year-old man was shot in the leg Saturday morning by a 48-year-old Libby man. The men did not know each other.

The hunter who fired the shot helped tie a tourniquet above the substantial wound to the victim's right thigh and along with his son started driving the man toward Libby until they met the ambulance. The victim was taken to the hospital in Libby and later transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Hospital spokesman Jim Oliverson said the man was still in critical condition Tuesday morning.

The sheriff's office, state Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks and U.S. Forest Service are investigating. They withheld the names of those involved.
