Butte Jobs Summit
BUTTE, Mont. -

More than $250,000 was raised to pay for the two-day Economic Development Summit in Butte.

The conference was free for more than 3,000 people who registered to hear from some of the nation's biggest names in business.

The bill was footed by nearly 100 businesses.

The Montana Chamber of Commerce said it was in charge of fundraising. The chamber said Wednesday it wasn't releasing the specific amounts of donations that ranged from $250 to as much as $25,000 each.

It paid for food, tents, sound and broadcast systems, printing, and many other items.

The sponsors included the pharmaceutical industry, energy companies like TransCanada and ConocoPhillips, Ford, FedEx and many others.

The event was coordinated by Baucus staff and volunteers at the Montana Tech campus.
