MISSOULA, Mont. -

A competency hearing has been scheduled for a man accused of starting a fire at a Missoula apartment building.

Detectives say Travis Crosby admitted to intentionally starting the fire last June, after he was served and eviction notice. He allegedly told them he started the fire in his own apartment using matches. That blaze spread quickly and left 40 people homeless.

Tuesday in Missoula County District Court Judge Karen Townsend scheduled a competency hearing for May. Mental health doctor's and representatives from the state hospital are expected to testify at the hearing, which will determine if Crosby is fit to stand trial.
