Corrections names new women's prison warden
The Department of Corrections has named a new warden for the Montana Women's Prison in Billings.
Joan Daly, who has been deputy warden for treatment services, will succeed Jo Acton, who is retiring on July 1 after 18 years as head of the 194-bed prison.
Corrections Director Mike Batista says the selection committee was impressed by Daly's extensive experience in mental health and by her thoughtful leadership. He says he believes her commitment in helping prepare inmates to successfully re-enter their communities will serve the inmates and Montana well.
Before joining Corrections, Daly was associate administrator at Montana State Hospital in Warm Springs for almost four years. She also spent seven years as director of psychiatry at Billings Clinic.
Daly's annual salary will be $80,080.
