Court docs: Brothers' argument ended in shooting
A 45-year-old Havre man is jailed on $250,000 bond after being arrested over the weekend on suspicion of shooting his brother to death in the basement of their mother's house.
The Havre Daily News reports Shane Johnson appeared before City Judge Margaret Hencz on Tuesday on a previous privacy in communications charge. Officials have said he is also being held "pending a deliberate homicide charge."
An incident report says 43-year-old Travis Johnson died Friday night after a .22-caliber bullet went through his left cheek and into his brain.
Sgt. Michael Labaty says Shane Johnson told officers that Travis hit him, broke his nose and pushed him down the stairs, which is when the gun went off. Officers say they found three spent .22-caliber slugs and holes in the basement walls.
