BOZEMAN, Mont. -

The real estate markets in Montana are improving and economic growth looks moderately optimistic in 2014, First Interstate Bank Staff Economist Rick McCann told customers and community leaders at a presentation Wednesday.

McCann projected Montana's outlook and says real estate is looking good, despite the recent rate increases.

He also offered insights from a banking perspective regarding expected growth in the United States and how global growth could impact those numbers.

"We're pretty optimistic, especially in our region and in our area. We're on good footing and heading north, just not as quickly as we would expected in a normal recession and recovery," explained McCann.

Bank leaders tell us the presentation aimed to help customers, businesses and community leaders as they plan for the year ahead.
