BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Butte and Bozeman are planning service events for the September 11th anniversary.

In Bozeman, The American Legion, Gallatin Post 14, is hosting a ceremony to honor all first responders. They are inviting all Gallatin Valley fire, police, sheriff's, Montana Highway Patrol, ambulance and security services to attend.

The service is at 9:03 a.m. at the American Legion Hall at 225 E. Main.

In Butte, at least two events have been planned.

September 11th is a National Day of Service for Americorps.  For the 9/11 anniversary they have organized the "Gleaning your garden for your local food bank" event.  Folks who have a garden with produce to spare are asked to bring it to the Butte Emergency Food Bank at 1019 E. Second St. between 9:00 a.m. and noon.

Also in Butte, Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch will be at Highlands College.  The event is a student voter registration drive and back-to-school lunch to recognize September 11th as a National Day of Service.  The event starts at 11:30 in the Commons.  The Butte-Silver Bow Clerk and Recorder's Office will be on hand as well as Chancellor Don Blackketter.

A "Shred and Feed" event taking place in cities around the state including Butte and Bozeman.  The event aims to raise awareness of two issues organizers say are facing our state:  hunger and fraud.  You can get free secure document shredding or drop off food for area food banks.  In Bozeman the "Shred and Feed" event is taking place at the Gallatin Valley Mall.  The Belmont Senior Center is hosting the Butte event.  "Shred and Feed" runs from 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.
