KALISPELL, Mont. -

Excitement and disappointment are ways people would describe the opening day of the 2013 Northwest Montana Fair.

Concert headliner Chris Young was forced to cancel due to a leg infection that left him hospitalized.

Fairground manager Mark Campbell found out just hours before the show, and scrambled to try and find an act of Young’s size to replace him, but no one was available.

Besides Young's cancellation, Campbell says things have gone smoothly so far.

Between 4-H events, food, and the rides, there's a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy.

"This is going be a great weekend and entire fair,” Campbell said.  “Yeah we're disappointed by the cancellation of Chris Young, that's kind of a highlight or star for us, but nonetheless, there's so much else about the fair that all comes together to make it happen."
