Fire officials at the scene of a railroad crossing east of Missoula confirm one person died on the railroad tracks Monday night.
At 10:30 p.m. we spoke with Sergeant Tony Rio of the Missoula Sheriff’s Department he confirmed the death was a suicide. The train was unable to stop in time.
The emergency call came out from dispatchers around 8:30 p.m. and we were on the scene shortly after that.
When we arrived on the scene Montana Rail Link and Missoula Sheriff’s Department officials were right next to the train tracks -- one officer was taking photos of the area. Montana Highway Patrol was also helping.
The location of is Deer Creek Road and the railroad crossing near Interstate 90 between East Missoula and Bonner.
Authorities were still on the scene investigating at around 10 p.m.
