Felony assault charge filed against state senator
Prosecutors have filed a felony assault charge against state Sen. Jason Priest, accusing him of throwing his 4-year-old daughter on the night he allegedly shoved his estranged wife and struggled with a police officer.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://tinyurl.com/mrut87h ) the Montana Attorney General's Office filed the charge Wednesday, along with a misdemeanor assault count accusing Priest of attacking his wife's boyfriend.
Priest also faces misdemeanor counts of family assault and resisting arrest.
The Red Lodge lawmaker previously pleaded not guilty to family assault and resisting arrest before Carbon County prosecutors turned the case over to the attorney general.
No phone number could be found for Priest.
He was arrested Feb. 1. Charging documents allege Priest's daughter suffered a bump on her head and that the boyfriend suffered a fractured rib.
