First Alert Forecast: More of the same hot, mostly dry weather
Very little changes are in store for today's forecast. Temperatures will be slightly cooler today. Expect highs in the mid to upper 80s around Northwest Montana, low 90s in the Missoula area, and the low to mid 80s around Southwest Montana with high elevations not breaking the 80 degree plateau. The coolest parts of the region will once again be the southern border with Idaho, with highs around 70 degrees.
Smokey conditions will continue for the forseeable future as winds from the West-Southwest keep sending smoke our way. Expect breezy conditions Thursday and Friday afternoon as a weak front hovers around the region. This will help lift a little bit of smoke during the afternoons.
Rain chances change little in the short term. Expect scattered showers and thundershowers mainly south of Bozeman and Butte this afternoon. The Missoula and Kalispell areas will continue to see sunshine.
The front will finally pass late Friday into early Saturday. There will be an elevated chance for strong thunderstorms around Bozeman on Friday and Saturday because of the extra lift the front will provide in the area. Outside of Southwest Montana, impacts are expected to be low from the front. Temperatures will cool through Saturday, with highs from the upper 70s to upper 80s by then.
We return to hot weather starting next week with a chance midweek for more afternoon thunderstorms.
