Flathead crews battle grass fire
Fire crews battled a grass fire in Marion Thursday afternoon.
Seven agencies from the Flathead responded to the fire around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
It spread from a small debris fire.
Tires caught on fire which then spread into the trees.
We're told crews were able to stop the fire's spread before it could reach the house.
"It's very dry. Extremely dry,” said Smith Valley Fire Chief D.C. Haas. “We're at about three acres here from just one debris pile here that escaped. It's a common fire we see escaped debris burn. Folks need to be careful."
Haas says they worked with the Department of Natural Resources fire crews to insure the fire that spread into the forest was put out.
