Flathead student to set up OKC donations

Nearly 1,700 miles away in the Flathead, one student looks to give away what he has to survivors of the Oklahoma tornado. Johannes Grimm -- an exchange student from Germany -- and his host family have been watching the devastation unfold and felt compelled to give to those who need it most.
The senior will graduate next week and soon head back to Germany. Grimm will have to leave some clothing and other items behind. So his host mother, Laurie, is hoping to send those things to folks in Oklahoma. But Grimm doesn't plan to stop there -- he's now turning to Flathead High School staff and students for help, challenging everyone to give what they can.
"Thee kids have lost everything," explained Grimm. "For me, it's a great way of saying thank you to America. America gave the opportunity to me and this way I can say 'thank you,' give something back. I think if the whole school supports the idea then it's even better."
New or gently used items can be brought to Flathead High School, 644 4th Avenue West in Kalispell, attn: Chelsea McCann.
McCann, Grimm, and his host family will also be looking to the community to help pick up and mail the donated items to Oklahoma.
Please contact McCann at FHS at 406-751-3471 or Laurie Rice-Agapitos at 406-844-3535 if you'd like to lend a hand.
