BOISE, Idaho -

The U.S. Forest Service is building a new supervisor's office in McCall.

The new 13,500-square-foot structure will be built near the agency's Krassel District office, which is also planned for a smaller expansion.

The new building means an end to some historic structures. The Idaho Business Review reports (http://bit.ly/WuZ0B8)  an old smokejumper building that's been at the site since 1958 will be demolished.

The facility will lead to the move of about 55 permanent Payette National Forest employees and some seasonal workers. It will house the forest supervisor, for years based in a building closer to downtown McCall.

Construction costs are $3.48 million, which includes a geothermal heating and cooling system and other green energy technology. Construction and expansion of both facilities will be completed in late summer 2014.
