HELENA, Mont. -

A former Montana Army National Guard soldier charged with fleeing the country to avoid facing felony sex crime charges has been apprehended in Spain.
Lewis and Clark County Attorney Leo Gallagher tells the Independent Record that 38-year-old Jeffrey Lane Wenzel was arrested last week.
Wenzel was charged in June 2012 with a felony sex crime against a minor and two counts of sexual abuse of a child involving enticing the girl to send inappropriate photographs of herself via cellphone.
Wenzel didn't show up for his Jan. 22 trial. Prosecutors added a felony bail jumping charge and on Jan. 30, federal authorities charged him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
At the time of his initial arrest, Wenzel was a sergeant first class with the Montana Army National Guard stationed in Butte.
