Python found in Bozeman apartment, animal control search for owner
BOZEMAN, Mont. -

A lost python is safely home after it was reunited with its owner on Thursday.

On Tuesday night, Bozeman residents found a juvenile ball python in their apartment, and had no idea where it came from.

The owner came forward on Thursday. Bozeman Animal Control returned the snake to the owner after inspecting the snake's living conditions and deeming them safe.

Animal Control said the owner was not home at the time of the snake's escape. The owner said the snake had recently grown out of its cage, and pushed the cage open.

Neighbors told NBC Montana the complex does not allow pets, but Animal Control said enforcing that rule is the landlord's responsibility and jurisdiction, not Animal Control's.

The owner did not received a citation, but was told to license the snake with the City of Bozeman.
