German consulate seeks justice in student's death
A German consulate spokeswoman says she hopes for justice after the death of a 17-year-old exchange student who was shot by a Montana homeowner.
Julia Reinhardt of the German Consulate General's Office in San Francisco tells the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/1iIqHnx ) that an unarmed juvenile cannot be lawfully killed by a citizen just because he trespassed.
Reinhardt says members of Diren Dede's family are expected to arrive in Missoula on Wednesday. She says a staff member from the consulate is also heading to Montana to assist the family.
Markus Kaarma is charged with deliberate homicide in the early Sunday shooting of Dede. Prosecutors allege Kaarma shot into the garage without warning after an intruder tripped sensors he had installed.
