HELENA, Mont. -

Gov. Steve Bullock says an economic development plan he commissioned will attract and keep more businesses in Montana once it's implemented.

Bullock on Thursday released what he called the Main Street Montana Business Plan during a news conference at Boeing Helena.

It outlines steps to take to train workers, create an attractive business climate, encourage the development of new industries and market the state.

The authors are Larry Simkins of the Washington Cos. and Bill Johnstone of D.A. Davidson and Co.

They say the plan is the product of months of roundtables, surveys and one-on-one meetings with industry, labor, community and governmental leaders.

Johnstone says the plan will be driven by the private sector. Specific proposals will be generated by people within key industry networks to be identified later.
