Grizzly euthanized after calf killed
State wildlife officials euthanized a 3-year-old male grizzly bear after it killed a calf at a ranch near Augusta and continued to try to get into ranch buildings.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks grizzly bear management specialist Mike Madel tells the Great Falls Tribune (http://gftrib.com/14n0ocz ) the 330-pound bear was put down on Wednesday.
Madel says the bear's ability to get on its hind legs and try to push into buildings was the biggest concern.
The calf was killed on June 11. Madel says the bear also entered a pig pen, but the two 4-H pigs fled into a barn.
The bear returned on Tuesday and was captured in a culvert trap.
