Health care foundation looking for trustees
A search committee for the Montana Healthcare Foundation is looking for people to decide how to spend the new organization's $40 million bankroll.
Interim trustee Edwin Eck says the foundation is seeking applicants to fill its five trustee positions.
The foundation is being created from the sale of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana to Health Care Service Corp. State law requires the proceeds to go to a nonprofit foundation with a similar mission.
How the foundation operates will be up to the new board of trustees. It will have an initial $40.2 million when the acquisition closes and additional revenue once Blue Cross' assets are sold.
Eck said Thursday he has received inquiries from about 15 or 20 people. Criteria for trustees can be found at www.montanafoundation.org .
