Helena woman charged in crash that killed 2
A woman is charged with causing a head-on crash near East Helena that killed a 51-year-old woman and her 16-year-old granddaughter.
The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/15eSirl) Arielle Schescke made an initial appearance in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court Friday with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence for the Tuesday night crash on U.S. Highway 12 that killed Mildred Richard and Justine Smith.
Schescke also is charged with negligent vehicular assault for injuries to her passenger, Dustin Michelle. He remained hospitalized Friday in critical condition.
The Montana Highway Patrol says Schescke's car was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes at the time of the crash.
Charging documents allege Schescke told investigators she had been drinking at a downtown Helena bar and at her house before the crash.
