Huson house fire sends man to hospital
MISSOULA, Mont. -

A Wednesday afternoon house fire sent a Huson man to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

NBC Montana was at the scene with Frenchtown Rural firefighters who responded to the incident around 4:30 p.m. after a passerby saw smoke pouring out of the home and called 911.

A homeowner reportedly woke up in a smoke-filled room.  Medics took him to the hospital.

Fire officials tell us it appears at least part of the house can be salvaged but smoke and water damaged the majority of it.

“Once we arrived on the scene we saw heavy smoke and that smoke reached up into the attic,” said Mel Holtz with Frenchtown Rural.  “We're cutting into the attack to try to reach where that fire is at but it looks like part of the house is saved and we've been able to salvage some of the possessions.”

Fire officials tell us the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
