HEAD ON COLLSION GLACER AIRPORT
COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. -

A Montana Highway Patrol investigation found that a car carrying two Columbia Falls teenagers swerved into oncoming traffic twice on June 7 before swerving a third time and striking a van head-on, killing the teens.

The crash near Glacier Park International Airport killed 18-year-old Mercy Peterson. His passenger, 17-year-old Kayli Mercedes Wagoner, died in surgery at the Kalispell hospital.

Trooper Jerril Ren tells the Hungry Horse News (http://bit.ly/15n826S ) that the exact cause of the crash may never be known. Witnesses tell the patrol that Peterson's vehicle swerved in front of an oncoming semitrailer and then into oncoming traffic a second time.

The driver of the semi said it appeared that Wagoner had her hands on the steering wheel, as if Peterson was distracted.

Ren says toxicology tests are pending.
