Jean Belangie-Nye named 2013 parks and trails steward
The Missoula County Parks and Trails Advisory Board announces Jean Belangie-Nye as the 2013 County Parks and Trails Steward. Jean, a resident of Lolo, is recognized for her extraordinary dedication to and advocacy for parks, trails, and their users.
Since the 1990s, Jean has continually led the way for trail improvements and connections between Missoula and Hamilton. As the chair of the Missoula to Lolo Trail Committee, she was integral in encouraging Missoula County and the Montana Department of Transportation to pursue a feasibility study of the Missoula to Lolo Trail and raised funds to complete grant applications. After 20 years, her steady participation culminated in the September award of $4.5 million to Missoula County for the Missoula to Lolo Trail through a U.S. Department of Transportation TIGER grant.
The County Parks and Trails Advisory Board and the Board of County Commissioners will present the award at the County Parks and Trails Advisory Board meeting on Thursday, December 12th at 1:30 PM in Room B14 on the basement level of 199 West Pine Street. All are invited to attend.
