After two hours of deliberation a Butte jury found Jeffery Lackman guilty of murdering 46-year-old Mark Partelow.
The trial went to the jury around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Lackman took the stand earlier in the day, telling the jury he acted in self defense. He told the jury Partelow was attacking him in a Casey St. alleyway last August when he shot Partelow in the face.
Lackman told the jury he fled after shooting because he was high on meth and figured the police would not believe his story.
During the 3-day trial Partelow's mother and Lackman's accomplice Juan Romero testified in court.
Romero pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and received a 5-year sentence with the Montana Department of Corrections.
