Lewiston port seeks to boost container volume
Officials at the Port of Lewiston in northern Idaho want to increase the number of shipping containers that move through the most inland seaport on the West Coast.
The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/19pSHF3) that a draft strategic plan recently released calls for an increase to 433 containers a month.
The average for the first nine months of this year was 356. The 21-page draft doesn't make clear how the increase would be obtained.
Port officials also want to increase the number businesses near the port and grow a fiber optic network.
