GREAT FALLS, Mont. -

A South Dakota man has returned to Montana to face a deliberate homicide charge in the 1996 shooting death of a veterinarian.

The Chouteau County Sheriff's Office tells the Great Falls Tribune in a story published Wednesday that 41-year-old Thomas Jaraczeski is in its custody after he waived extradition proceedings.

Jaraczeski was first charged in 1998 with killing Bryan Rein of Geraldine. The charges were dropped after a judge ruled that certain evidence could not be used against him.

Montana prosecutors recently re-filed charges and Jaraczeski was arrested in South Dakota, where he had been living since 1999.

Rein was shot three times in his trailer home in 1996. Prosecutors allege Jaraczeski was jealous and became obsessed after his ex-girlfriend broke up with him and began seeing Rein.
