Man sentenced to 20 years for Missoula robbery
A Helena man has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for robbing a Missoula bar at gunpoint.
U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen handed down the 246-month sentence Friday on 52-year-old Curtis Keith Tichenor.
Tichenor was found guilty in May of robbery affecting commerce, possessing and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Prosecutors say Tichenor robbed the Silver Dollar Bar in July 2012 wearing a mask and brandishing a handgun.
He used part of the $4,775 to buy methamphetamine and heroin for his and his girlfriend's use in a Spokane, Wash., hotel.
He was arrested later that month outside a Helena hotel.
Tichenor has previous convictions for drug possession and distribution, theft, criminal endangerment and burglary.
