Residents in Marion were able to do a little early Christmas shopping Saturday, and the proceeds are headed right back into their community.

The Marion Fire Department Auxiliary held a chili lunch and holiday craft fair and bazaar Saturday.

The auxiliary helps hold fundraisers for the volunteer Fire Department in Marion, who relies on the funds for new equipment and department running costs.

Auxiliary Vice President Judy Lucian says events like these are the least they can do to help out their local fire department.

"They are always very, very appreciative, but I think it's the auxiliary who are the ones who appreciate them more because they put in many hours not only in training for fire land fires and house fires but they're paramedics and they spend hours and hours and hours and we're more than happy to give back what we do," said Lucian.

The Marion Fire Department is always looking for volunteers for the auxiliary or the department.  If you're interested in helping out, you can visit their website at http://www.marionfd.org/ .
