MISSOULA, Mont. -

The Darby teenager missing since Thursday was located Saturday morning, according to the Ravalli County Sheriff's Department.

Initial reports indicate he is in good health.

Sheriff's officials say the teen was reported missing around 11p.m. Thursday after he became separated from a group of friends picking mushrooms in the Hughes Creek area south of Darby.

Officials said the teen was able to call his mom with a cell phone and tell them he was lost.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman says initial reports indicate that the teen walked out of the woods near the area where he was last seen.

"That's what we're always after, is a good resolution to any search and rescue operation that we undertake. We're obviously very happy this had a happy ending, a good resolution," said Hoffman.

Hoffman told NBC Montana that search crews have dealt with rugged terrain over the past two nights. He thanked several agencies who engaged in a cooperative effort to search for the teen, including five dog teams, Canyon Creek Helicopters, Missoula's Life Flight helicopter, a helicopter squadron out of Malmstrom Airforce Base, Summit Air Ambulance out of Belgrade, Lemhi County's Search and Rescue team, the Ravalli County Search and Rescue team, Painted Rocks Fire, and the US Forest Service.
