Missoula made the five point weekend escape category of New York Magazine's Travel section.

The article gives mention to quintessential Missoula businesses in the areas of overnight stay, places to eat, things to do, insider tips, and how to fill an oddball day.

Goldsmith's Bed and Breakfast, located on the Clark Fork River, was one of the hot spots to stay the night.

The article boasted hand-made quilts and frontdoor proximity to the river and the university campus.

"A lot of the guests that stay here have to do with the University. Families coming to check out the campus can just walk right across the bridge here and go do their tours or whatnot. We get a lot of Grizzly football fans in the fall."

Gibson Mansion was another mention. The 1903 house was relocated to it's current place on 39th Street.

The house once stood in the historic district near Hellgate High School, where it acted as a fraternity and sorority house at separate times.

It was moved to its current location in the 70s to escape demolition.

"I think it's a great representation of Missoula, being part of Missoula's history with AJ Gibson being the architect. One of the most noted architects in the Pacific Northwest, and the fact that this house was one of his designs."

Some other niche Missoula attractions mentioned are Biga Pizza and Catalyst Café, for their use of local and regional resources. Grizzly Hackle and Dunrovin Ranch are being touted as great businesses to pass the time with while visiting the area.

Although the article focused on Missoula, the Bison Inn Café and the ghost town of Garnet also made the list as insider tips. To check out that article for yourself, click here.
