Missoula welcomes first New Year baby
A new year meant a new baby for a Missoula couple. Community Medical Center welcomed the first Missoula baby of 2014 early Wednesday.
On 1-1-14 at 1:41 a.m. little Fletcher Nichols was born. He was due on January 11, but early in the morning on New Year’s Eve his mom Kristin Nichols knew.
“On the 31st at 3:00 a.m. I woke up in the middle of the night with contractions, labored all the next day and came to the hospital about 5:00 last night,” said Nichols.
It was 23 hours of labor. Dad Chris Nichols joked about keeping a close eye on the clock.
“It was either New Year’s Eve and we got the tax deduction for the year, or it was New Year’s Day and we were the first baby of the of the year,” he said. “The clock was ticking a couple of different directions it turned out timing wise to be the best.”
Fletcher weighs just 5 lbs 6 oz.
It's exciting for the family, Fletcher is their first baby. They look forward to what's to come and what a New Year's birthday will be like.
“Well he'll never have to go to school on his birthday,” Kristin said.
“We'll never forget his birthday,” said Chris.
For now they're enjoying their quiet and precious New Year's newborn.
“He's so good, he's so calm,” said Kristin.
