BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Bozeman High beat more than 20,000 other schools in the country to make the America's Most Challenging High Schools list.

The list ranks schools by an "index score," made up of different factors- like the number of college-level tests a school gives, divided by the number of students who graduate.

We stopped by BHS around lunch time to ask kids what they think.

"There's a lot of opportunities at this school... just a bunch of clubs and sports teams, and academically its really challenging," said freshman Sky Gould.

Others like Olivia Lingan said "our music department is really great." Her friend, Karlee Judd agrees. "They support everything- they support the arts and the music, and all the academics."

In addition to Bozeman, Stevensville High School in the Bitterroot made the list. Bozeman places at number 1,052 and Stevensville at 1,286.

In a separate publication from Newsweek and The Daily Beast, Bozeman and Manhattan High Schools ranked in the top 2,000.

That ranking is based on graduation rates, college acceptance, test scores and students taking advanced placement exams.
