On Thursday, the Montana State Crime Lab held an open house event as part of National Forensic Science Week. The event included remarks by Montana Attorney General Tim Fox, as well as public tours of the facility.
Attendees observed demos on how fingerprints play a role in investigations and arrests, and how breath-alcohol devices are utilized.
The State Crime Lab "is an integral part of the Department of Justice and an integral part of the law enforcement community here in Montana,” said Fox.
According to Montana officials, the crime lab employs nearly 30 technicians and scientists, along with six administrative assistants.
The lab processed more than 7,000 cases in 2012.
