BILLINGS, Mont. -

A 25-year-old woman from the Crow Indian Reservation is to be sentenced in federal court for killing her 3-year-old daughter by throwing her out of a fast-moving vehicle.

Defendant Mary Agnes Leider will appear Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy in Billings after pleading guilty to second degree murder.

She could face more than two decades in prison for an offense prosecutors described as "unimaginable."

Authorities say Leider was riding with her daughter in her lap as a passenger in a pickup driven by her brother after a night of heavy drinking in December, 2012. The vehicle was going at least 45 miles an hour when Leider opened her door and threw the girl into the roadway for reasons that remain unclear.

Victim Tennielle Big Day died of massive head injuries.
