ND man pleads after Montana chase, standoff
A North Dakota man arrested after fleeing police in the Helena Valley and a brief standoff at a Lincoln bar has pleaded guilty to two federal charges.
29-year-old Joshua Tyler Apland of Minot, N.D. pleaded guilty Thursday in Helena to conspiracy to possess and distribute methamphetamine and to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Two other drug charges and a firearms charge are to be dismissed when he is sentenced on Sept. 20.
Apland was wanted on suspicion of violating his probation in a North Dakota cocaine case when officers learned he was in Helena. He fled when officers tried to stop his vehicle in September 2012, threw out two weapons as he drove and was arrested about 60 miles away in Lincoln.
