Flathead County rings in the new year with multiple performers
KALISPELL, Mont. -

The people of Flathead County are ringing in the new year in style. There are multiple venues and events for people to attend.

First Night Flathead is celebrating its 15th year. To ring in the new year, they have 12 venues set up throughout downtown Kalispell. There is a little bit of everything for people to enjoy -- anything from belly dancing to electric folk music.

NBC Montana spoke with Craig Schwabl, who explained why the belly dancing event appealed to him and his family.

"It was something that I have never experienced, my kids have never experienced, so I thought it would be a great time to try," said Schwabl.

Many people attending First Night Flathead are jumping around to different venues throughout the night.

One musician explained why First Night Flathead is a unique and fun option for New Year's Eve as opposed to just going to a bar.

"It's a chance for a family to really come out and see some good entertainment and be together and walk around," said Steven Kelley, who plays with the Red Hot Blue Chips.

If you're still looking to do something before the clock strikes midnight, check out the First Night Flathead website. Activities will be going on until 12:30 a.m.
