Northwest Montana Fair 2013
KALISPELL, Mont. -

A disappointing rodeo last year has some Kalispell fair organizers promising to get things back in line this year.

We talked with a few of the people who have been working on putting together the Northwest Montana fair this year, and while they're optimistic about drawing people in, they also want to improve the rodeo as they've heard negative feedback over the past few years.

The rodeo is one of the main attractions at the fair, and has been for over 50 years.

Fair officials tell us fewer riders have been participating because of a critical event on their circuit, and they don't want to get injured before that.

Organizers like Office Manager Nuggett Carmalt says she hopes to bring the rodeo back to being a fair favorite.

"I've heard the same thing and that's the big challenge we face,” Carmalt said.  “We definitely want that to be a crowd favorite for sure."

The fair begins August 14, and the first Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on August 15.
