Officials report progress on Stoner Creek Fire near Lakeside
The following information is from the Flathead National Forest:
Crews made good progress today on the east flank with the support of helicopters from other active fires in the area. The fire is west of the Lakeside community along the Blacktail road. The fire is burning to the east of the area burned by the 2009 Baldy Fire. Firefighters are focusing on the eastern edge of the fire to reduce spread toward structures. The closest structure is approximately one-quarter mile from the fire’s edge.
Resources: 7 engines, 1 bulldozer, and 2 helicopters, 70 firefighters
Closures: No trail closures are associated with this fire. Homeowners can still use Blacktail road for access, but other drivers are asked to avoid using this route.
