Park County authorities are expanding the search area for missing Livingston resident Brad Spalding.
Spalding was last seen sometime last week. A tip led authorities to a Spalding's car. It was found on Monday, parked at the George Lake Trailhead about 15 miles south of Livingston.
The following is a news release from the Park County Sheriff's Department detailing Thursday's efforts and outlining Friday's plan.
"SAR operations yielded no new results by the end of the day Thursday.
Ground teams searched approximately 2.5 miles of thick timber along the South Fork trail.
Dog teams searched steep, intermittently timbered terrain and wide patterns adjacent to the George Lake trail. Aerial spotters searching by helicopter attempted to focus on the South Fork drainage but high winds prevented this search.
The helicopter instead focused on the west slopes further south of George Lake and re-searched boulder fields and pockets of thick, deadfall timber west and north of George Lake.
Friday's operations will involve expanding the search area utilizing additional dog teams focusing on thick timbered pockets and drainages on the west slope of the George Lake trail. "
