MISSOULA, Mont. -

Missoula County commissioners have appointed Andrew Person to fill the state House District 98 legislative seat left open by former Rep. Jennifer Gursky's resignation.

Commissioners were unanimous Tuesday in their selection of Person, a Democrat.

Person's application says he is a 34-year-old Helena native and a student at the University of Montana School of Law expected to graduate next year. He is a military veteran with a master's degree in foreign service from Georgetown University.

Person listed his legislative priorities as fighting against political groups funded by anonymous donors and supporting clean energy.

Gursky resigned the legislative seat in October to move to Helena and become the development director of Helena Food Share.
